What Is Pickleball?
Pickleball has been a family-friendly sport since the beginning. According to USA Pickleball, the sport was invented in 1965 when three dads created the game for their kids using ping-pong rackets and a perforated ball, playing at an old badminton court. Since then, the game has grown in popularity throughout the U.S. and gained international attention.
Pickleball can be played by two or four players using solid paddles made of wood and a polymer perforated ball. A pickleball court has the dimensions and layout of a badminton court. Each game is played to 11 points and won by a two-point lead, while matches are typically won by the best of three games.

Colonial Country Club provides various programs so people can learn and enjoy this exciting sport. Whether you want your children to learn their first racket sport or have a friendly competition, our courts are open for some outdoor pickleball fun!
Our programs include all the equipment you need, and lessons are provided by our team’s tennis expert, Maja Palaversic. She has an illustrious career in competitive tennis and over two decades of experience coaching and teaching players of all ages and skill levels.
Maja is a certified Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) coach and is dedicated to mentoring young and adult players, tailoring her classes to their unique needs. Our pickleball programs available for members include:
Pickleball originated as a sport that gave kids a new and easy summer activity! Our pickleball program for kids is the ideal opportunity for your children to grasp the basics of the sport. Pickleball can be the stepping stone for other racket sports such as tennis, badminton and table tennis, and it can give your kid a chance to hone their skills in an easy social setting.
Lessons focus on developing hand-eye coordination while learning about teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun and engaging way. Our kid’s pickleball program welcomes children up to age 13 and takes place on Saturdays from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Whether you’re a pickleball enthusiast looking to hone your skills or just want to pick up this fun sport, our adult clinics are perfect for you. We welcome members of all skill levels over the age of 18. Our expert instructor tailors each class to advance every member’s pickleball game.
Lessons take place every Saturday from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Our pickleball socials are the perfect occasion to meet new people and have fun outdoors. Pickleball is considered a social sport thanks to its simple rules and game structure that foster teamwork and participation. Members can enjoy a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere while playing a friendly match and sharing conversation with other players.
